The amount of data produced across the globe has been growing exponentially and will continue to grow at an accelerating rate for the foreseeable future. Given the rising complexity of data, the need for proficient data engineering techniques for acquiring valuable information from the data has never been greater. Knowledge is central to modern society. The Knowledge Engineering refers to all aspects involved in building, maintaining and using knowledge-based systems which contain large amounts of knowledge, rules and reasoning mechanisms to provide solutions to real-world problems. The special session on Advances in Data and Knowledge Engineering provides a forum to communicate results of new developments in data and knowledge engineering.

The organizers invite original and unpublished work from individuals active in the broad theme of the Special Sessions. Authors should submit their papers online using EDAS. Unregistered authors should first create an account on EDAS to log on. Further guidelines for submission are posted at: http://icacci-conference.org/web/call-for-papers

The accepted and presented papers will be published in the conference proceedings and submitted to IEEE Xplore as well as other Abstracting and Indexing (A&I) databases.

You are invited to submit your papers to the International Conference on Information and Communication Technology Research 2015 (ICTRC2015), which will be held in Abu Dhabi, UAE in the period 17 -19 May, 2015. The conference is technically sponsored by IEEE UAE section.

ICTRC2015 aims to be the forum for scientists, academics, engineers, and industry professionals throughout the World to present their latest research results, ideas, developments, and applications in all areas of Information and Communication Technology. The conference is organized by Khalifa University and co-organized by EBTIC (ETISALAT-BT Innovation Centre) and ANKABUT (Emirates Advanced Network for Research and Education). The event is sponsored by the TRA (Telecommunications Regulatory Authority).

Prospective authors are invited to submit full papers, written in English, of not more than 4 pages, in IEEE double-column format. Submissions must present original work that has not been previously published, and is not under review elsewhere.

Scope:

Pushing computation, control and storage into the "cloud" has been a key trend in networking in the past decade. Over-dependence on the cloud, however, indicates that availability and fault tolerance issues in the cloud would directly impact millions of end-users. Indeed, the cloud is now "descending" to the network edge and often diffused among the client devices in both mobile and wireline networks. The cloud is becoming the "fog."
Empowered by the latest chips, radios, and sensors, each client device today is powerful in computation, in storage, in sensing and in communication. Yet client devices are still limited in battery power, global view of the network, and mobility support. Most interestingly, the collection of many clients in a crowd presents a highly distributed, under-organized, and possibly dense network. Further, wireless networks is increasingly used locally, e.g. intra-building, intra-vehicle, and personal body-area networks; and data generated locally is increasingly consumed locally.
Fog Network presents an architecture that uses one or a collaborative multitude of end-user clients or near-user edge devices to carry out storage, communication, computation, and control in a network.
It is an architecture that will support the Internet of Things, heterogeneous 5G mobile services, and home and personal area networks. Fog Networking leverages past experience in sensor networks, P2P and MANET research, and incorporates the latest advances in devices, network systems, and data science to reshape the "balance of power" in the ecosystem of computing and networking.
As the first high-quality IEEE workshop in the emergent area of Fog Networking, this workshop's scope includes:

Accepted and presented papers will be published in the IEEE FOG Networking Proceedings by the IEEE Computer Society Conference Publishing Services and IEEE Xplore Digital Library.To be published in the IEEE FOG Networking Proceedings an author of an accepted paper is required to register for the workshop at the full (member or non-member) rate and the paper must be presented by an author of that paper at the conference unless the TPC Chair grants permission for a substitute presenter arranged in advance of the event and who is qualified both to present and answer questions.  Non-refundable registration fees must be paid prior to uploading the final IEEE formatted, publication-ready version of the paper.  For authors with multiple accepted papers, one full registration is valid for up to 3 papers.

Scope
The main goals of a smart-city are to improve sustainability and livability, to ease city government and organization, and to increase services to the citizens. The primary role of ICT in enabling this vision is to keep the decision makers, the stake holders and the citizen constantly updated with fresh information collected around the city.

To accomplish this task, next generation cities, will be populated with billion of heterogeneous devices ranging from tiny communicating objects (e.g., actuators, sensors, tags) able to interact with the surrounding environment and remote systems, to high-end nodes (e.g., data centers, workstations) capable of complex operations and to process an huge amount of information. In this futuristic scenario a very special role is played by citizens with their smartphones, tablets and portable devices. They are constantly connected with whatever surroundings them and they are formidable information consumers. At the same time, citizens roaming around the city may be considered as mobile probes which, by making uses of cyber and physical data accessible by smartphones, can analyze the situation and produce reports to the community. Furthermore smartphones can actively contributing in creating the communication infrastructure by forwarding data coming from surrounding devices.

All in all, cities are going to become a new complex ecosystem which has the potentiality to offer many amazing features and support innovative application. Unfortunately, fully exploiting, managing and accessing that ecosystem are still far to be fully viable and their fulfillment surely poses a formidable challenge.

The SWANSITY workshop aims to solicit contributions on novel algorithms, methodological studies and experimentations on how to enable the formerly described ecosystem. Specifically, on how devise a city-wide networking infrastructure capable to efficiently guarantee communication in the new envisaged ecosystem, to manage the complexity of heterogeneous devices and access technologies, and to guarantee robust, ubiquitous, and secure connectivity over the urban environments.
In line with such objectives, original contributions are solicited in topics of interest including, but not limited to, the following:

Nowadays networked mobile devices have become a commodity in people's daily-­life. According to a recent survey published by Walker Sanders, the percentage of web traffic coming from mobile devices has surpassed 30% in late 2013. To serve users from all over the world, a number of global (or planet­-scale) mobile systems and applications have been established. Several new technologies, such as mobile cloud networking, wearable computing, mobile payment, high-­throughput wireless data delivery, and location­-based services, have received great attentions. In the meanwhile, by attracting more than one billion users worldwide, online social networks (OSNs) provide a new venue of innovation with many challenging and practical research problems. In particular, more and more social network systems have expanded to mobile platforms. Not to mention those large­-scale mobile-­centric social network systems, such as WhatsApp, WeChat, Snapchat, and Swarm. For both of the academia and industry, how to utilize the emerging mobile technologies to help people's online social interactions has become a viable trend.

The Seventh International Workshop on Hot Topics in Planet­-scale mObile computing and online Social neTworking (HotPOST 2015) is organized with the goal to bring researchers working on the intersection of mobile and OSN together to present and discuss their latest research results and ideas, thereby promoting the development and evolution of this area. All submissions on mobile platforms and OSNs related to architecture, design, implementation, simulation, modeling, analysis and measurement are welcomed. We highly encourage novel and innovative previously unpublished work, even reporting work in early stage.

Authors are encouraged to submit full papers describing original, previously unpublished research, not currently under review by another conference or journal, addressing state­-of­-the-­art research and development in all areas of mobile/OSN. Papers must be submitted electronically in EDAS (https://edas.info/newPaper.php?c=19625). The length of papers must be no more than 6 pages, including tables and figures. The cover page must contain an abstract of about 150 words, name and affiliation of author(s) as well as the corresponding author's e­mail and postal address. Each submission will receive at least three independent blind reviews from the TPC. At least one of the authors of every accepted paper must register and present their work at the workshop. The technical program committee will select one winner for the Best Paper Award and one winner for the Best Paper Runner-up. Cities and urban areas in general are experiencing immense growth in the last few years as they are the centers of economic activities. Regarding future trends, it is estimated that 93% of urban growth will occur in developing nations, with 80% of urban growth occurring in Asia and Africa. Urged by these observations, city halls and political decision makers are calling for urgent solutions to the growing problems caused by this increasing population concentration. Recent advances in information and communication technologies may stimulate new solutions towards the urbanization problems, and the mission of this workshop is to present recent achievements in ubiquitous computing from a smart cities perspective.
Smart city research mainly focuses on applying next-generation information technologies in daily activities, like embedding sensors and actuators in hospitals, power grids, roads, buildings, water systems, vehicles, and other objects forming the Internet of Things (IoT). A recent study identifies five industry sectors that are core to the development of smart cities: energy, water, transportation, buildings, and government.
This Workshop addresses the aforementioned issues by examining new technological developments, under the context of ubiquitous computing and smart environments, in the general areas of: Machine-to-Machine (M2M) and Mobile Communications, IoT architectures, data storage and handling, security and privacy, reliability and fault tolerance, risk analysis and service business models. Experiences from deployments and case studies related to the aforementioned subject areas are particularly welcome.

The Call for Papers covers (but is not limited to) the areas of:

* Multimedia pervasive computing for smart environments
* E-Health services in smart environments
* Smart applications for special user groups (e.g. people with disabilities)

Authors are invited to submit, via the EDAS system, full papers written in English, with a paper length of 6 printed pages, including figures, tables & references in IEEE double-column format (overlength are allowed, up to two extra pages, at an extra cost). Submissions should contain original material and not be previously published, or currently submitted for consideration elsewhere. All papers will be reviewed for scientific quality by the Technical Program Committee. Paper submission implies the willingness of at least one author to register at the regular rate (non-student), and present the paper. Accepted papers will be published in the IEEE ISCC 2015 conference proceedings, and will be accessible via IEEE Xplore Digital Library.

The International Conference on Information and Communication Technology Research 2015 (ICTRC2015)

The International Conference on Information and Communication Technology Research 2015 (ICTRC2015), which will be held in Abu Dhabi, UAE in the period 17 -19 May, 2015. The conference is technically sponsored by IEEE UAE section.

ICTRC2015 aims to be the forum for scientists, academics, engineers, and industry professionals throughout the World to present their latest research results, ideas, developments, and applications in all areas of Information and Communication Technology. The conference is organized by Khalifa University and co-organized by EBTIC (ETISALAT-BT Innovation Centre) and ANKABUT (Emirates Advanced Network for Research and Education). The event is sponsored by the TRA (Telecommunications Regulatory Authority).

Prospective authors are invited to submit full papers, written in English, of not more than 4 pages, in IEEE double-column format. Submissions must present original work that has not been previously published, and is not under review elsewhere.
